Bloody Mary
I am not referring to the famous cocktail. This Bloody Mary is actually a scary game which is generally avoided by many kids as the game has an urban legend attached to it. To play this game, you go into a dark room with a mirror and a candle. Go and stand in front of the mirror and chant “Bloody Mary” 3 times. The legend says that the ghastly spirit of Bloody Mary will appear and attack you. There are many other theories related with this game and this game is also given as a dare to many people. To make it more spooky, tell the volunteer to go and chant Bloody Mary 5 to 10 times. Trust me, he/she is going to have goose bumps. Bloody Mary is a very popular sleepover game among girls.

Hide and Seek
Almost everyone is familiar with this game. One player counts till ten, while others go and hide in places where they can’t be found. After choosing a particular set of colored discs, the players are supposed to pocket all the discs of their set, as well as the queen, using the striker. The striker, as its name suggests, is used to strike the discs, to propel them into the pockets at the four corners of the carrom board. The striker can only be moved by flicking it with fingers. Every time the player pockets a disc from his own set, he gets another chance, until he is not able to pocket any more discs. If he pockets a disc belonging to the opponent, he automatically loses a chance, and the opponent takes over.

According to the standard carrom board game rules, constituted by International Carrom Federation (ICF), the player has to pocket all his discs as well as the queen. On doing this, he either wins the particular board or earns some points and marches towards victory. The queen, though requires a ‘cover’, which means an additional disc belonging to his own set has to be pocketed either simultaneously with the queen, or immediately after the queen. This invariably means that the queen has to be pocketed before the last disc belonging to his own set. If, even by mistake, the player pockets the last disc of his set before taking the queen, he forfeits the board or the points.

Carrom Board Game: Rules and Regulations
All carrom-men should be arranged in such a manner that the queen is at the center, and the white discs form a ‘Y’ in the arrangement. The person who wins the toss, and chooses the set of white discs, plays first or ‘breaks’ to start the game. The player is supposed to strike from his side of the board only, and crossing over to the other side calls for a foul. According to the correct placement of the striker, it has to touch both the lines, and should either cover the end circle completely or not touch it at all. In order to strike a disc forward, use of index finger, middle finger or use of index and middle finger together (scissors shot) is allowed. On the other hand, to strike a disc in the back pocket, only the use of thumb is allowed. The use of thumb, however, is only allowed when back shots are permitted. Generally in carrom doubles, they are not permitted.

Generally, a carrom board game may run up to 25 points or eight boards, whichever comes first. In case of points, the queen has a value of three points, while the other discs have a value of one point each. A player earns points on the basis of the number of opponents discs left behind. Pocketing the queen earns the player 3 points, only if he wins that particular board, and until his score reaches 22 points, after which the queen has no points for the particular player. If the games reaches the eighth board, the player who has more points or more boards to his credit wins the match.

There is also said to be a direct correlation between poor academic performance and playing video games. Studies have shown that some children spend a lot of time playing video games, thus ignoring their studies, resulting in poor scores at school.

To decrease the negative effects of gaming on children, parental control is very essential. Parents should keep a close eye on the sort of games their children play. The most important thing that parents must observe is the amount of time their children spend in front of the video game consoles. They should not allow their kids to spend more than two hours in gaming.

Now we come down to a game that actually involves competing with each other. This is surely one of the fun games to play with friends and family. Right down a list of 20 questions and four columns in front of each question. The questions should be framed in such a way that the answers would tell you something about your friends. For example, you can ask questions such as ‘What’s her favorite color?’ or ‘what is her mother’s maiden name?’. This is my personal favorite amongst all the friendship games for girls. Sit together and pledge that you will play this game with the right spirit. Select one person who will start the game. You can randomly decide who has to start or you can resort to the good old ‘majority wins’ method. The person, who starts the game, will tell one good quality in the person sitting on her right and one bad. The one who states the qualities also has to give reasoning for it. The person about whom it is said, will agree or disagree to what is being said either in a ‘yes’ or with a ‘no’. You will play this game for four rounds and at the end of it you will know what you need to improve on, as a person. Your friends know you the best, so they can tell you the most appropriate answers for everything. Though no one wins this game as such, you all know more about yourselves than you did before.

Let the Pictures Talk
This is one of the best games I have ever come across and needless to say, it was my very own creation. There is only one drawback to this game and that is, you can’t play this during a stay over. If you want to, you will have to start preparing at least a week in advance. Each one of you has to make a collage of all the pictures that you have of each other. You are allowed to take pictures in the one week given to you. Also, there is no limit on the number of pictures you take. The sizes of all the collages have to be exactly the same. Each collage has to completely fill a blank page. There will be a limit on the minimum number of pictures that you take. The night of the stay over, you can show each other what you have prepared and combine these collages to make a scrapbook. Each one of you has to vote for a winner by writing the name down on a chit. The winner gets to keep the scrapbook! Wonderful, isn’t it?!

What I did in this case is to get two songs – the one that the audiences liked and my band’s personal favorite. The audience favorite is the one that makes the money, generally the simpler one that is easy to follow (unless you’re a psychedelic band) and your favorite is the one that you really enjoy playing and therefore, perform better. That one gets the manager’s attention.

When your music is concerned, this will be the first impression you put on most managers and producers out there. So be sure to make the tape of your best recording and best songs. Even if you do compromise on the output quality a little bit (budget problems or whatever), don’t hold back on the style and energy.

Spreading Your Music
Your exposure to people will get them interested in your work. Take the opportunity to show it to them. Spread your tracks through radio stations or a DJ you are in good contact with. Even if five people listen to the track, one of them has to be paying attention to it. If he/she likes it, congratulations, you got yourself a radio fan! You can also try to get noticed through the Internet.

Always keep spare CDs of your demo stored just in case. Take one with you wherever you go and store the rest. You never know who you’re going to meet and whether they are going to ask you for a demo tape again. My point is, why take the risk? The trick here is to get people to know your music, not your song; you don’t want to be a one hit wonder now, do you?
